Today Paul gets his kicks at 66. We had to go out and find a highway sign, but the state changed the route to 333. Fortunately we found this one. Oh well, Paul is kind of historic now also.

The monsoon season continues. This was taken on August 23 from the west mesa looking east toward us and we had a half-inch or rain that night. August has been humid and quite warm, especially at night to make it overall the warmest August on record. Rain in Albuquerque was between 1 and 2 inches for the month. In the last couple of days of the month it has cooled off enough to open the patio doors at night to enjoy the cool breeze; earlier we had to keep everything shut against the 85 degree nightime weather and turn on the air conditioner.

The County employee picnic was at Nambe Falls this year, at the foot of the next big canyon south of where the Boy Scout Camp Rand is. This is all pueblo land, and I can see why they settled there, because there is a sizeable year-round stream that originates on the north face of 12,600ft Santa Fe Baldy mountain. The falls in this picture are a part of that stream, but if I raised the camera up, you'd see the face of a reservoir dam which was built for irrigation water. Jonathan, who works at the County Jail with medical records, came along to the picnic.
