In the first picture are all of Don and Madge's children; from left to right, Dennis, Linda, Alan, Louise and Brian. Bruce Griffin passed away last October. Dennis lives right down the road from our son Michael, in Lehi. In the second picture are Steve and Linda Ord, with one of Linda's daughters on the left, and a grandchild in her arms. They live in Cottage Grove, Oregon, and I promised myself that the next trip to Oregon to visit Carrie and Kurt, and our friend Jan would also include the Ords. In the third picture are Alan Griffin's family, fast catching up to Marolynn's sister Barbara's family in number, as they just adopted three Latino siblings ranging from 1 to 4. They're in the picture. Alan and his family live in Kaysville, near Ogden.

I spent most of today attending the various aspects of Madge Griffin's funeral today. I'm glad that I came up to Utah to do this because I renewed acquaintances with my cousins on Don and Madge's side of the Griffin family, and also, as Glen came up to the funeral, all of the Griffin family was represented with the exception of Aunt Elsie. It was a fine service as was the short graveyard service thereafter. The flowers that we sent are shown here also. After the services were over, I was invited to a luncheon for the family put on by the Relief Society at Alan Griffin's ward where I was able to catch up on family news, getting addresses, phone numbers and email boxes, and also to take a few pictures of my cousins and their families which I'll post in the blog.

Jonathan's 26th Birthday
It's been a busy week; too busy to celebrate anniversaries and the like, but Marolynn baked a fine chocolate cake for Jonathan's birthday which was served to him and the missionaries whom we had over for dinner on Saturday evening.

After visiting Bob in Sacramento, I flew back home over the Grand Canyon, and took the top photo of the desert about 50 miles ENE of Flagstaff. The perfectly straight line in the winter landscape has nothing to do with the aircraft window, but tracked from right to left as we passed over it. There's less snow on the right side of the line; perhaps there is a temperature difference in the ground. I brought up Google Earth to see a satellite view of the same area, and the line is there also, as you can see in the bottom Google Earth photo. It runs absolutely straight for 50 to 70 miles. Any Geologists around that can supply an answer for this?
