After traveling all over Santa Fe County to find subjects for the County Budget cover, I found this little Spanish pony cart at an antique dealer about a block away from my office. The flowers add just the right amount of color, and though the cart was in the morning shade under a tree, the photo turned out to be a success. It was almost too easy as I pass this subject on my way between County buildings and marked it in my mind as a possible photo subject. It looks right now like this photo is the top candidate for the cover of the budget document.

These are purple daisys that bloom at this time of the year in many places, especially along the bypass highway around Santa Fe. They are distinctive by their yellow centers.

A picture-taking day hunting wildflowers for inclusion in the Santa Fe County budget document. I was not to be disappointed. The late-summer bloom still continues. I don't know the name of these orange flowerd plants, but they are polific in the hills above the little artist village of Madrid, south of Santa Fe.

Monsoon season in New Mexico is done, but its gift to the land in the form of a late-summer wildflower bloom is becoming evident in many places. These are small sunflowers which are blooming throughout the Santa Fe valley. This is a pleasant surprise which supplants the non-existant wildflower season last spring which was a casualty of the winter drought.
